About West Cork LEADER Co-Op

The primary objective of the LEADER Programme is to demonstrate the development initiatives in rural areas and to further develop an environment and culture conducive to and supportive of local enterprise. We hope to achieve this objective through an integrated approach at local level in identifying, harnessing, and optimising the development potential of local resources by the following means:

  • Provision of technical assistance supports.

  • Provision of training assistance to address skills deficiencies.

  • Support for capital investment, and marketing assistance, within eligible measures.

  • Development of strategic partnerships.

  • Support for local community initiatives in developing viable projects.

The West Cork LEADER Co-op operates under the authority and guidance of a Board of Directors.  Due emphasis is placed on achieving cohesion, focus and balance with regard to sectoral, community, statutory and geographic interests.

The Board of Directors is supported by four specialist sub-committees, their primary function being to initiate project development in line with the objectives and strategies set by the society.

The West Cork LEADER Co-op currently employs a staff of eight.
