The
Taste of West Cork Food Fair took place from Friday 19th to Sunday 21st of July at
Harte's Eurospar Supermarket, Clonakilty. The event was run by Fuchsia Brands Ltd in conjunction with
Harte's Eurospar and was in aid of Mount Carmel Hospital, Clonakilty and COPE
Foundation, Clonakilty.
The
event began with a Breakfast Buffet at 8.30 Friday morning with guest speaker
Mick Galwey, Munster Rugby captain. The Druid Chef, Ruairí Ó Moracháin gave a Cooking
Demonstration later that evening at 8 pm, which included a cheese and wine
reception sponsored by Carbery Natural Cheese. "The Druid Chef's traditional
Irish cuisine reaches back to a golden age beyond the potato, with choice
organic and wholesome foods, as he brings to the table the elements and the
history of Celtic culture". Ruairí has cooked for many rich and famous
people - Lady Diana and Prince Charles, Michael Jackson and Ronald Reagan
among them.
Saturday's
events included a Kids Cookery Workshop between 11 am & 1 pm and 2 pm &
4 pm. A Food & Wine Promotion took place between 2 & 5 pm
with music in the marquee. Fuchsia Brands held the 2002 Fuchsia
Excellence Awards at 8 pm in the Lodge & Spa Hotel, Inchydoney Island.
The
Food & Wine Promotion continued from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday as well as a
Barbeque and Kids Entertainment.
